A new sport is taking America. This sport is bringing older folks off of the couch and into the video game era. I am one of those.
Recently we have discovered the WII which is the Intendo Video console that takes the gaming to a real moving, interaction level. The initial games has Bowling, Golf, Tennis, Baseball and boxing. In each of these you hold the controller in your hand and go through similar motions that you would in playing the real game. As you go through the motions, your activity shows on the TV screen, just as if you were doing the real thing.
With this different gaming leagues have sprung up across the nation. There are bowling leagues that meet in local taverns, and local homes. These leagues often times involve many people over the age of 50. The activity is enough for elderly persons to be involved but does not have the need for holding or throwing a large bowling ball. It is great exercise in the retirement homes where leagues have been started.
The golf allows you to get in 18 holes before breakfast or after the sun goes down. Yes, some of the graphics are less than ideal on the original games but I understand that these are greatly improved in the games such as Tiger Woods Golf.
This is all to say "move over" youngsters - let the games begin. ---By the way would you get me my walker!
