Where in America is Hillbilly Willy? - Palo Duro Canyon

"THE LIFE OF A MOM" got it right on the first try to guess where in America was Willy.

Willy was a the second largest canyon in the United states -- Palo Duro Canyon. The name in Indian means "hard wood" The lighthouse is a dominant outcropping of rock in the Canyon.

There is a wonderful play about the history of the area called "Texas" it uses the great effects that the Canyon offers for great light and sound. Anyone close to the area should take in the play.

Here is what they say about the play:

A LONE HORSEMAN, carrying the flag of the great state of Texas appears atop a 600 foot cliff, signaling the beginning of the most spectacular outdoor musical drama in the world. With a burst of fireworks and a moving swell of the music, the horseman gallops away. Suddenly, a cast of more than 60 actors, singers and dancers takes the stage to kick off the show that millions of fans from all around the world have come to see. Only a state as big as Texas could host a show as big as TEXAS!

Come back soon as Willy shows up at another interesting spot in America.

Lets Discover America

We live in a great country but yet many of us have very little knowledge about the country we live in. I am going to use this blog for a while to occasionally post a description about an interesting place in America without revealing where it is at.

Within a day or so I will then post the place along with links etc to the place.

Try to be the first to guess where I am at. Here is the first one!
----------

I am standing at the Lighthouse hoodoo. My name is derived from"hard wood"

Georgia O'Keeffe early in the 20th century, wrote of this place: "It is a burning, seething cauldron, filled with dramatic light and color.

Winter Vacation

Been thinking about retirement and vacations and just seeing America. I have thought many times about what would be a great trip during the December - January time of the year.

Take into consideration that I don't snow ski but I love seeing the snow. I love to try different cuisine - different from the southern cooking.

What are some of the places that someone might recommend for this time of the year.

Give me some hints.

Just my thoughts for now.

Testing Obama

Word has it that the terrorists attacks in India were somewhat of a test for incoming President Obama. Yes, since he showed his pacifist side earlier when he stated to world leaders that they all needed to just sit down and discuss how to have peace, they have decided to see how this pacifist attitude will carry through.

This scares me that the world is testing us with terrorist attacks. If strong responses are not seen then the attacks may be in America next.

Don't think for a minute that it can't happen.
